Our History
A Society Built Around Its Annual Meeting
The Society traces its roots to March 1952, when twenty surgeons met at the Heathman Hotel in Portland as the Pacific Northwest Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Ten years later, in May 1962, the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons held its first meeting at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, B.C., with Willard Rowland presiding.
From an original footprint of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, the Society has grown across the Northwest, and its annual meeting — held everywhere from Sun Valley and Whistler to the Hawaiian islands — remains the heart of its life. February 2027 on Kauai will be the sixty-fifth.
